Inside Out Burbank

Narrative Channel Book


The project began by selecting an urban area to be documented using digital and analog means. Once patterns have been defined, I used my research to establish a narrative, and select an appropriate channel or medium to represent it. The area documented was an overlooked section of San José, made notorious for its disproportional amounts of sex shops and liquor stores. In the end, I took what many in the area believe to be an eye sore and proposed that the area was a great place for younger individuals to live. The area is rich in history and has a unique character which most of Silicon Valley lack because of gentrification. “Inside Out Burbank” is a booklet and wallpaper sample possibly given to a new home owner which would seek to educate them of the area.
